Stop by A Flea Antique in Braselton, Georgia if you happen to be in the area, it is a huge Mall filled to the rafters with all kinds of treasures.

And be sure to say hello to Aunt Bee ---

She always has a sweet smile and a kind word for everyone.

Now it is time for a little R & R on the beach in Florida.

Card making seems to have taken me in a new direction with my designing and creating.  LOL !!!  I haven't touched the sewing machine in a couple of weeks.  I know I will get back to making Heirloom Clothing for Children though,  after all that is my first love.

Still Enjoying my New Found Creative Outlet - Greeting Card Making

Just thought I would pop in to say Hi !

We have been having some beautiful warm weather here in North Georgia.  The flowering trees are in bloom,  and there is a yellow coating on everything that is outside.  POLLEN !!!

I love the Spring time, but allergies are just NOOOO FUN !!!  Have to take that little white allergy pill every morning.  If I forget I pay the price with watery eyes, sneezing, etc.

When I am not out and about enjoying my freedom from running a retail store I have been busy playing around with my new found creative outlet, Greeting Card Making.  I am still not very savy about all the products and techniques, but am having a good time experimenting.

I thought I would share some pictures of the latest card I made.  My inspiration for this card was the Glory of God's hands in the Splendor of Spring Time.

Wishing you a Blessed Week ahead, and much Joy in all your endeavors.

Hugs,
Carol

Pretty Paper Fun

More Pretty Papers.

I have been having some more down time, resting and creating.  I think this new found love of mine might just be taking a lot of my spare time in the future.  LOVE IT !!!

I guess you can tell there is a theme here  -  I just love Shabby Chic Style.  Soft pastels, Vintage lace,  delicate florals have such a calming effect on the soul.

I know my cards are not very professional looking, but I am just learning.  There are no scrapping stores close bye to take lessons from, so my learning process is through trial & error and watching tutorial on the web.

There are so many products out there that I am still discovering what technique each one is used for.

My main question is  -  how in the world do you mail these cards without them getting squished in the envelope ????  LOL

Here are a few pictures of my recent creations.  Peach Pink with the palest of Blue notecards that are blank inside for a handwrittem message.

Hope you have a beautiful fun filled day.

Hugs, Carol

Pretty Papers

Hanging Dream Catcher Card

Happiness, Love, Wish Gretting Card - Blank Inside

Sorry for my absence.  I have been quite busy packing and moving out of my store, and then I took a little vacation to rest.  The future ahead looks a lot less stressful without the dailey routine of running a retail store.

I  have always loved Pretty Papers of all sorts.

Since I recently closed my retail Children's Boutique and retired, I have enough spare time to enjoy creating and designing.  So, I thought I would try my hand at making some shabby chic greeting cards.

There are so many inspirational blogs that offer tutorials on different techniques, and the array of products available is just endless.  I love using mixed media of clipart, vintage buttons, silk flowers, pretty ribbons, German glass glitter and vintage lace.

I will still be sewing fine children's apparel and selling on Etsy.  The remainder of my store stock will be listed for sale on Ebay.

I also have a booth at Our Towne Antique Mall in Commerce, Georgia where  I will be selling vintage items and my Shabby Chic Designs.

The next chapter has begun,  or as I have alway heard  --  A rolling stone gathers no moss.

Happy Spring !!!

Hugs,
Carol

Winding Down !!!

We woke up to this beautiful sight on December 26 th.

Now I know 6 inches of snow is not that out of the ordinary for Christmas, after all I did grow up in Chicago, Illinois, but I live in Georgia now.  Georgia has only had snow at Christmas 3 times in the past 120 years !!!
Our family plans to leave at 7 am for a much needed R&R to Florida was delayed by 5 hours so that the roads would melt some.  The south is just not stocked with all the equipment necessary to clear roads during a heavy snow or ice storm.  Anyway we did get going, my daughter and her family waited a bit later to leave so my 2 granddaughters could go sledding and play in the snow some.  We had a wonderful family vacation at the beach, just resting and eating, LOL, and a little shopping, for a whole week.

Now back home, I am finally winding down the closing of my Children's Boutique brick & mortar store.  My doors will be locked on February 24 th for good.  I will really  miss seeing all the little ones that I have dressed over the years, and the direct interaction with the people that visited my store.

I won't be giving it up completely though.  I plan to continue doing custom sewing, selling on Etsy & Ebay, and occasionally doing a craft festival.  I am looking forward to more free time and not having such a structured schedule of running a store.

New Beginnings in the New Year !!!

Best Wishes For a Glorious 2011,
Carol
